Jackel Original Radon Sump Dome Review
Here I take a quick look at our new sump/radon cover build by Jackel
Review
We needed a new cover for our sump, as I was adding a new pump, plus we added a radon mitigation system. As such, I picked up this one off Amazon to give a try, so here’s what I found.
Upon opening up the package, (Model: SMR16101-CV) everything came in plastic bags – here’s what was inside:
- The main surround and cover are made of heavy duty plastic
- The lid included a window to look into the sump – initially it has it’s protective plastic, which must be removed
- The 1-1/2″ sump pipe adapter is installed, as well as a threaded 3″ adapter for the radon connection
- A nice drawing of the whole setup is included
- The cord adapter goes in another hole, which should seal things up well
- A multitude of alternative adapters are included which should allow this to be used in almost any installation
Installation was very simple – while you can choose to bolt it to the floor, I simply used some PL 300 foamboard adhesive and it worked great. Sealing up each of the pipes and the cord was a snap. Our contractor had no problem attaching the radon mitigation system to the included threaded 3″ connection.
Bottom line, I give this 5 out of 5 stars, as it seems to be well thought out, well built, and includes a multitude of options. I do recommend it, so if you’re looking to buy one and would like to support my efforts at no cost to you, please use the Amazon link below.
